Andrew Yang, 18, student of Dr. Won-Bin Yim at the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music, is a two time winner of the National Young Arts Foundation Competition in classical violin, in 2020 and 2021. He has appeared as soloist with orchestras performing works by Waxman, Mozart, Lalo, and Sibelius. He was featured soloist with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra / Cincinnati Symphony Youth Philharmonic Orchestra Side-By-Side concert under Louis Langrée in April, 2019, Cincinnati Pops Orchestra in February 2018 under John Morris Russel, and Blue Ash Montgomery Symphony Orchestra in February 2016 and March 2019 under Michael Chertock. Andrew also made numerous solo performances at the Carnegie Weill Hall. In addition, Andrew has won awards at national and international levels including Distinction in the 2017 Thirteenth International Young Virtuosos Competition in Bulgaria, First place and Judges’ Distinction award in the 2018 American Protégé International Piano and Strings Competition, winner of the East Central Division, and national finalist of the 2019 Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) Senior Strings competition. In 2018 and 2019, Andrew was named finalist in the Cincinnati Arts Association Overture Awards for instrumental music. Andrew currently serves as concertmaster of the CSYO (Cincinnati Symphony Youth Orchestra) Philharmonic Orchestra and was concertmaster of the 2016-2017 CSYO Concert Orchestra. In October 2019, Andrew was selected as a candidate to compete in the prestigious 9th International LOUIS SPOHR Competition for Young Violinist in Weimar, Germany.
